Katie Walker is a full-time researcher on the Rights Compass team, the first antislavery monitoring & evaluation (M&E) platform. The project explores current practice of M&E and impact assessment (IA) in the antislavery context with the goal of guiding and improving practice for more impactful and successful work across all sectors. Katie will be contributing to this with in-depth M&E research, the development of a database of antislavery interventions and tools and methodologies for M&E and IA.
Katie holds a BCL in Law and French and an LLM in international human rights law and public policy from University College Cork. She has worked with local and international rights organisations including Amnesty International and the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights in Vienna. She has worked with legal advice clinics, edited a public interest law newsletter and been a parliamentary researcher and speechwriter.Katie has conducted legal and policy research for high-level audiences including EU decision-makers, the European Court of Human Rights, the European Committee on Social Rights, and the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Her personal areas of interest and passion include social inequality, access to justice and economic, social & cultural rights.
